Bio: AGS to Arizona Wildcat

Shelly Schultz grew up in a very active and sports minded family. She participated in motocross, waterskiing, soccer, volleyball, and track before finding her passion... softball.



Shelly first picked up a bat at the age of 9 for the Unforgettable Babes in a small league on Phoenix's west side called Arizona Girls Softball (AGS), and was immediately hooked. She quickly became the top prospect and began playing travel ball with local teams: L'il Saints, Storm, and was one of the original members of the SunCats organization.


During her high school career, Shelly played under Ed McQuade at Greenway H.S., where she was a top performer and varsity starter all 4 years. Her awards include: 4 time First-Team All-Region, 4 time First-Team All-State, Gatorade Player of the Year, All-American honors, and holding the schools single season hit record.


Shelly had the opportunity of a lifetime when she accepted a scholarship to play ball at the University of Arizona. She enjoyed many great successes during her career. Her most memorable include: hitting a homerun on her first pitch as a Wildcat, hitting a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 7th to beat UCLA on friday then hitting a walk-off double to defeat the Bruins again the very next day for the PAC-10 championship, smashing 2 homeruns in a single game against Stanford, All PAC-10 honors, All American Honors, PAC-10 Player of the Week, and she was a Mary Roby Academic Award winner. Post college, Shelly played one season in the National Pro Fastpitch Association with the Arizona Heat.

Since graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Communication from the UofA, Shelly has earned her Master's degree in Counseling and is on her way to becoming a Licensed Associate Counselor. Shelly is looking to combine her experience as a competitive professional athlete with her education to assist future collegiate and professional athletes perform at their peak.
